The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred tonight (May 11, 2023) at the intersection of Piety and North Miro streets that left one person dead.   

At about 6:58 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a reported shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male subject unresponsive lying on the sidewalk who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later was declared deceased.  

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. Therefore, no additional details are currently available. 

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
